SteelerTribute.com has compiled your votes and the results are now in for your 75th Season All-Time Scrubs and Duds teams. The rosters for each team are listed by position below. For positions where multiple players had to be selected (like RB, WR, OL, etc), the players are listed in order of who received the most votes for that position. Before we get to the results, I wanted to share a few observations about how you guys voted:
You really love Earl "The Hitman" Holmes. He was the leading vote-getter on the All-Unheralded Team, barely edging out OL Craig Wolfley. I suppose it is appropriate that a linebacker would be the leading vote-getter on a Steelers all-time team.
On the flip side, you really don't like Alonzo Jackson, who was the leading vote-getter on the All-Suck Team. In fact, 90% of the votes had Zo listed as one of the linebackers. Congratulations Alonzo on being named the suckiest Steeler ever!
The closest vote was for honorary captain of the All-Suck team, with Brian Jackson winning by a tiny margin over Freakish Bert (aka Steely McBeam). It was almost a 50/50 split.
The player who got the least amount of love on the unheralded team was WR Henry Bailey. You could look at that two ways: he is either the most truly "unheralded" player, or he didn't deserve to be a candidate at all. Meanwhile, QB Dick Shiner got the fewest votes on the suck team, as everyone apparently was able to look past the fact that his name was Dick Shiner.
The only current Steeler to make either team was unheralded TE Jerame Tuman.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Dewayne Washington did not make the All-Suck Team. I had to put him on there as a candidate because so many people hated and booed him while he was here, but I always felt sorry for Dewayne and thought he wasn't as bad a player as everyone made him out to be. He just had awful luck and really bad timing. I'm glad to see that Steeler Nation doesn't hold it against him too much.
