All-Unheralded Team
The All-Unheralded Team was created to honor the scrubs. In order to qualify as a true Unheralded candidate, a player had to meet the following criteria:
- No Pro Bowls. A true unheralded player would have never been recognized as one of the best at their position.
- No team MVP awards. An unheralded guy was never the most important player on his team.
- Not a candidate for the Steelers.com 75th team. That would destroy the whole purpose for this team!
- Not a former #1 draft pick. If a player was drafted first overall and became a scrub, then they were a bust, not unheralded.
- At least one or more of the following must be true:
- The player contributed somewhat to the team with little recognition.
- The player had one moment of glory.
- The player was a fan favorite / underrated during the time that they played.
- It could be legitimately argued that the player would have likely had more success under different circumstances.
Important Note: This criteria only applies to a player's time in a Steelers uniform. What they did before or after playing for Pittsburgh does not count. Onto the candidates!
